Punta Begoña stands out as the one and only must-see stop in Getxo, as part of this architecture festival’s packed and varied programme, where you can discover the town’s most iconic buildings and spaces through its architectural heritage. buildings and spaces through its architectural heritage.
The Galleries continue to establish themselves as a space where heritage, artistic creation and public participation come together. The restoration work currently underway in the Main Hall, the Monumental Entrance and the Flysch Cave will not only restore the monument to its former splendour but also broaden the scope for its cultural use, reinforce its role as one of Getxo’s key heritage and cultural landmarks, and significantly enhance its social functionality, enabling it to accommodate the numerous proposals for activities to be held at the Galleries.
To mark its tenth anniversary, OPEN is evolving in this edition with the aim of offering a broader and more open perspective on architecture. Recognising that architectural practice today is more diverse than ever, the programme seeks to broaden that perspective by showcasing other forms of architecture. As well as continuing to open up spaces, the programme will highlight new ways of practising architecture – from the perspective of emerging practices to non-built architecture – showcasing the increasingly prevalent alternative approaches to the profession.
On 3 and 4 October, from 10.00 to 15.00, Punta Begoña Galleries will open their doors. During these five hours, volunteers from the Festival will guide visitors on a tour exploring architectural innovation and heritage sustainability.
