How is a building perceived when described poetically? What do poetry and architecture have in common when it comes to constructing meaning? What distinctive features emerge when approached from within or outside a territory, from within or outside a language?

On 1 October, Horacio’s Lantern will host this symposium where the judges of the ‘Micropoemas de Punta a Punta’ competition, organised by the OPEN Architecture Festival, Escuela de Escritores and Bizna Estudio, in collaboration with the Punta Begoña Foundation, are invited to this symposium to discuss these and other issues, each from their own field of expertise. These are the members of the jury:

María Bengoa:

Writer, journalist and author of short story collections and several novels, including El mar de Arrigunaga – the moving account of Ramiro Pinilla’s childhood and youth – and Las damiselas y el escritor.

Jorge Dioni López:

Poet, writer and journalist, renowned for his essays on urban planning and society, such as La España de las piscinas and El malestar de las ciudades.

Idoia Carramiñana:

Poet and translator, author of the bilingual poetry collection Bi and a graduate in Basque philology, who is dedicated to teaching and research on the Basque language and has also participated as a translator in the competition.

To conclude the discussion, there will be a poetry reading of the winning entries from the competition, which are on display in the building, and of some poems created during the poetry workshop held on 29 September.
