In recent months, the restoration and enhancement project of Galerías Punta Begoña has been filled with recognitions from various fields.

Recognitions in which what matters is that they look to the future, because they value the potential of Punta Begoña as a space of architectural and landscape value, but above all as a place for history, culture, art, social leisure or training.

Among them, at the end of Urtarrila, the Fundación Punta Begoña received an invitation from Universidad Americana CLAEH to develop two training proposals: one in cultural heritage and another in sustainable tourism, for the UCCI’s official programme.

The UCCI, Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities, is an organisation that brings together Ibero-American institutions, universities and entities, to which it offers training activity based on city-to-city exchange, with great impact and aimed at professionals and institutional leaders.

Fundación Punta Begoña has developed the two training programmes based on international case studies of good practice across the Ibero-American sphere, including projects from Euskadi, innovative in the field of sustainable tourism and heritage.

Alongside coordinating the content of the training proposals, Fundación Punta Begoña is also responsible for describing the key aspects of the Galerías project as a process of open restoration, the compatibility between works and social and cultural activity, the keys to sustainable tourism and the applications in heritage education that are made possible.

The training proposal promoted by CLAEH URUGUAY is currently in the process of programme development by the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities, which has highlighted “the great expectation surrounding the excellent proposal work on HERITAGE MANAGEMENT, CULTURAL AND SOCIAL FUNCTION WITH RESPECT FOR THE MONUMENT”.

For Fundación Punta Begoña, the invitation to collaborate with such prestigious institutions in Latin America and across the entire Ibero-American sphere represents more than recognition: an extraordinary opportunity to disseminate its work and open up new avenues for its development for the benefit of society.
