Few cultural landscapes in the Basque Country are as closely connected to our identity and heritage, our customs and ways of life, our traditions, social practices, rituals and celebrations, and our traditional skills and crafts as the Nervión-Ibaizabal Estuary.
Sadly, many of these traditions have disappeared.
Yet many others are still with us today, passed down from one generation to the next and evolving alongside the historical, natural and social changes around them. Each generation has reinterpreted these traditions, bringing them to life in its own way.
To identify, raise awareness of, and enhance the Living Heritage of the Estuary.
At the heart of this project are the communities that have kept these expressions of intangible cultural heritage alive along the Estuary, passing them down through generations and helping to preserve them for the future.
