Punta Begoña Galleries will host the presentation of the Getxo Circuit Hermanos Otxoa Memorial on July 5th. This professional cycling race, held annually in Getxo and its surroundings, is distinguished by being one of the few urban circuit races in Europe – a UCI 1.1 category event – and by a historical trajectory that sees its 79th edition celebrated this year.
We are talking about an event with a long history spanning decades, making it a classic and an essential part of the town’s San Ignacio festivities program. This 2024, being an Olympic year, the race, traditionally held on July 31st, will exceptionally take place on August 11th, and, as every year, cyclists will pedal through places of great beauty, just as they did decades ago at the foot of Punta Begoña.
Punta Galea Txirrindulari Elkartea, the Getxo City Council and the Punta Begoña Foundation have sought to recall these striking images, and therefore, within the exceptional setting of the galleries, we will host the presentation of a sports activity that is socially committed and promotes culture, the memory of our town, and healthy lifestyle habits.
