The founding objective of ARRILUZE TXALLENGE is defined simply yet precisely: “to fight against leukodystrophies… through the recovery and adaptation to our times of a historic open water swim, contributing to the cultural and sporting heritage of Getxo”.
Based on this declaration of intent, the organization strives year after year to ensure the event offers greater attractions, participation, and impact.
And so, this Ekaina 28, Swim Camp Getxo managed to gather hundreds of swimmers and a large audience for the open water swim between the Marina and Ereaga beach.
The strong wind and opposing tides during the first part of the event did not prevent significant participation, which led to substantial fundraising for the fight against leukodystrophies, both through swimmer registrations and the purchase of the solidarity Gorro Cero (Zero Cap).
Once again, Punta Begoña has been proud to join and be part of Arriluze Txallenge, opening and offering the Galleries for the event’s presentation, participant assistance, and award ceremony.
Also through the exhibition of historical and current images of the open water swim on large format panels, placed on the facade of the south gallery, which has maximum visibility from the Marqués de Arriluze and Ibarra promenade, Getxo marina, and Ereaga beach, one of Bizkaia’s most frequented areas.
The Punta Begoña Galleries are consolidating, as their restoration progresses, as a vibrant space open to social, historical, cultural, educational, and recreational activities, especially when proposals come from individuals, groups, and associations that generate social return.
In this sense, Arriluze Txallenge represents a model because it pursues a solidarity objective, while supporting it with sport, social participation, historical recovery, culture, and leisure.
We share objectives, and making one of the most emblematic spaces in our Territory available to the organization is a source of pride and a duty.
