Punta Begoña, live.

CICLO DE RADIO Y PATRIMONIO EN PUNTA BEGOÑA

Radio and heritage come together at the Galleries, opening Punta Begoña up to people across Bizkaia and contributing to the aims of the European Heritage Days.

To mark 100 years of radio broadcasting in Spain and the 25th anniversary of the European Heritage Days, Punta Begoña is opening its doors to experts, artists, creators, thinkers and heritage enthusiasts from all walks of life, bringing together stories, ideas and initiatives that explore what shapes our identity.

The 2024 European Heritage Days are dedicated to Routes, Networks and Connections, exploring the ways in which heritage brings people and communities together.

Punta Begoña is joining the European Heritage Days, with more than 70,000 events taking place across Europe, and becoming a meeting place and a platform for sharing ideas. Every Friday throughout October, the Galleries will come alive with interviews, performances, theatre, music and stories, broadcast live across Biscay and around the world via streaming and links with partner radio stations in the Americas.
And all this will take place in the very room that was once at the heart of Horacio Echevarrieta’s life—a man whose many contributions to progress included playing a key role in bringing radio to the Iberian Peninsula.

A series created with the ambition of becoming a regular highlight of the European Heritage Days in Biscay. Because connecting with our heritage means discovering it, exploring it, telling its stories and sharing it. This is the goal set by the European Union, and the same goal that guides our work at Punta Begoña.

The 2024 series kicks off with an outstanding line-up and a special collaboration with the radio programme “Pensando el patrimonio”, which broadcasts from Colonia del Sacramento and invites audiences across the Americas to reflect on heritage.
We will connect live with its director, Miguel Ángel Odriozola, and talk in person with leading figures from the worlds of science, culture, the arts, sport and more.
