The Representation Hall of Punta Begoña was, in its years of splendor, the setting for magnificent and luxurious dances that brought together distinguished guests.

Therefore, in the process of recovering the monument and opening it up for social use, the proposal from the association Swing Side Bilbao seemed perfect to us: to fill the hall with music and dance once again, with an open, inclusive, and diverse event.

Last Iraila 27, with a live performance by the jazz band Girls in Band, the galleries were transformed into an authentic swing party. Music, movement, and gathering were the main protagonists of a day that united participants of different generations, who danced and relived the historic atmosphere of the monument.

After the presentation and a preliminary class, the large attendance filled the space with life and joy, restoring a use that had been absent for decades.

The representatives of the Association, Lucía Berasaluce and Naiara Otaegi, expressed their enthusiasm for holding the event in the “iconic Punta Begoña Galleries, a unique setting due to its history, architecture, and views.” In addition, they presented the new Swing Side Bilbao choreography, which was performed by the participants, offering a playful, aesthetic, and inclusive show.

The collaboration between Swing Side Bilbao and the Punta Begoña Foundation remains open for future joint activities. Both entities share the spirit and vocation of this project: to advance the recovery of the monument in step with social engagement and participation.

The aim is to foster initiatives that emerge from the citizenry — individuals and groups — and that, naturally, shape the use of Punta Begoña as a civic and vibrant space, exceptional for its history, architecture, and seaside location; a space at the service of society.
