Throughout 2024, structural interventions for the recovery of historical spaces between the cliff and the hall have been carried out for their sociocultural use.
The year 2025 marks the starting signal towards the final phase of comprehensive recovery of Punta Begoña.
After the research phases and urgent safety interventions, much more data is available about the building and the cultural landscape where it is integrated. And also about the millennial history of Getxo, which could have been lost if demolition and reconstruction actions had been carried out.
Society has become acquainted with Punta Begoña during the process, and the growing demand for activities and citizen proposals for its use advise a decisive advance towards the habilitation of the spaces.
Throughout each of the coming years, Punta Begoña will increasingly be an open space for creation, exhibition, and training. And also a meeting point for leisure and social enjoyment, an exceptional civic facility due to its location, history, and beauty.
After the technical planning proposal has been presented to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, composed of all municipal groups, the document will be opened to society in 2025, showing the interventions, deadlines, possibilities for exhibition, training, and social use of the enabled spaces, and contribution to the improvement of the urban environment.
In short, the full availability of an exceptional civic facility, recovered as a landscape icon on the coast of Getxo.
